In his role as Artistic/Music Director with many Canadian choral ensembles, and as partner with local and national institutions, Michael Zaugg has commissioned choral works from locally emerging to internationally established composers. His work through the Choral Art program at the Banff Centre, and the EAR program with Pro Coro Canada has yielded many world-premiers. Groups such as The St. Lawrence Choir, Cantata Singers of Ottawa, The National Youth Choir of Canada, and voces boreales have also commissioned under Michael’s leadership.

In particular the Composer-in-Residence program with Pro Coro Canada, and featured artists Paul Mealor, Ugis Praulins and Alberto Grau, has garnered praise and accolades for the creation of new, exciting works for professional ensembles.
