DE PROFUNDIS : voces boreales and Michael Zaugg – a choral journey through Light and Darkness, with exclusive readings by Hélèlen Dorion
Fitting the dark days of November, the choir voces boreales and Artistic Director Michael Zaugg will present a unique a cappella choral program, featuring music by Brahms, Mendelssohn, Whitacre, Gjeilo and Purcell. On Saturday, November 5 at 8:00 p.m. at the church Saint-Pierre-Apôtre in Montreal, the ensemble will present DE PROFUNDIS (Out of the deep), with special readings by Québec’s Hélène Dorion.
The concert theme ‚out of the deep’ creates an expectation of despair and darkness. And naturally, the music and texts will investigate different perspectives on the subject. Many of the works performed deal with despair and some even with death. But several compositions bring an aspect of optimism and hope, maybe even Advent and Christmas, into the program selection. The music immerses us in a glorious light: “even in the darkest night lies the purest, most eternal brightness“.
Tickets are 25.- at the door for adults and 15.- for students. For all ticket inquiries, please write to tickets@montrealchoralinstitute.info
